Chairman's Letter

HAPPY NEW YEAR and welcome to the BoyarMiller Website.

Over the holidays, I spent time reflecting on my first year as Chairman of BoyarMiller. This year of transition - both for me personally and our firm - certainly brought a few challenges, but mainly a number of exciting opportunities.

In all, 2011 was an exceptional year for BoyarMiller. We saw growth in our practice groups with the addition of new attorneys Jeremy Sanders, Philip Dunlap, Carey Hain and Adam Wilhite. The Litigation Group had a busy year at the courthouse resolving five cases — four through trial and one through arbitration. This volume of cases actually tried to a jury, judge or arbitration panel is telling of our experience level in the courtroom as trial lawyers. The Business Group closed transactions totaling over $1 billion in industries ranging from healthcare to oilfield services for both privately-owned companies and private equity fund clients.

I am also proud of the many accomplishments we've made this past year in the legal, business and philanthropic communities. They include:

With these, and many more successes, we begin 2012 with momentum and great energy.

Brad Scarborough and Craig Dillard were elected Shareholders of the Firm. Brad is an invaluable member of the firm's Business Group providing counsel on complex commercial real estate transactions as well as landlords and tenants on office, industrial, retail and restaurant lease transactions. Craig serves in the firm's Litigation Group and represents a wide range of clients from high net worth individuals to large corporations in cases involving general commercial litigation, employment disputes, oil and gas litigation, products liability litigation, consumer law disputes, and construction litigation. I am also pleased to announce that Edgar Saldivar in the firm's Litigation Group was promoted to Senior Associate.

On February 18, Gary Miller, Business Group Chairman, will be recognized by Camp For All for his long-time support and contributions as an honoree at "CampFest 2012 - Made in Texas" event. We salute Gary for more than 15 years of service to Camp For All.

And, this spring, we'll kick off our 2012 Breakfast Forum series with a new conversation focused on the energy sector followed by our capital markets program in the fall and real estate forecast in December. Stay tuned for more information about the upcoming energy forum and please visit our Breakfast Forum Website for a recap of recent events.

We look forward to great things in 2012. We continually strive to provide our clients with innovate, visionary and value-added results through living our Mission to provide counsel beyond expectations, build lasting relationships and make a meaningful difference in people's lives.

Thank you for visiting the Chairman's Letter. If you would like to know more about BoyarMiller, drop me an e-mail at chanslik@boyarmiller.com.
