Summer has been busy and we are delighted about it. Whatever the season, we are driven to understand our clients’ business goals and to help them solve challenges so they can move forward.
That means we complement the delivery of crucial legal strategies with sound business advice to provide innovative solutions. That is why we are here.
I am honored that our clients have ranked us as a law firm having the strongest client relationships in the energy industry by an independent study called the BTI Research 2017 Power Rankings—and for the second consecutive year. The recognition is based on in-depth telephone interviews with legal decision makers. They are asked who they recommend first in the industry. We couldn’t be more pleased that our energy clients consider us their “go-to” law firm. After all, that is what we strive to be for our clients in each industry we serve—to support them as business partners and legal advisors.
Last month, we won an important case on appeal for our client Cooper Valves, LLC. The Fourteenth Court of Appeals reversed a district court’s temporary injunction and we believe the ruling has an important impact on Texas law and will be a guiding precedent for non-competition and misappropriation cases going forward.
I am proud of our incredible team! They demonstrated a commitment to our Mission and Values throughout this litigation. And I am grateful for our clients who value our advice and analyses throughout difficult challenges.
We remain committed to being a resource for our clients on trends, policies and legal decisions that may impact their businesses. Our library of ViewPoints – legal matters that impact your business – has expanded greatly with new articles on emerging and ongoing topics of concern such as boilerplate provisions in contracts, what you should do if you get a discovery subpoena, “common law marriages” in business, and the use of Wikipedia as a legal source.
In addition, resources such as our “Repeal, Replace, Reevaluate. How will Changing Healthcare Policy Affect your Business?” eBook from our Forum this year is a primer on some of the continuing issues regarding our nation’s healthcare policy.
Here’s hoping the rest of the summer brings you some relaxation and recharges your mind and spirit. We are here when you need us.
