Litigator David Stockel Balances Busy Career, Baby and Bicycling

“The goal is to help our clients with efficient and effective legal avenues that deliver practical business solutions to solve their problems. And the best part is that I do what I love at BoyarMiller, with colleagues who are friends and mentors. Our firm has strong relationships both inside and outside the firm, and that makes it a very special place.”

– David Stockel, Shareholder, Litigation Group

As a litigator, David knows his way around a courtroom. With legal prowess, he masters the details of representing clients in commercial, maritime, employment and general business matters – keeping them involved every step of the way.

Out of the courtroom, he’s faced with a new challenge: being the father of one-year-old Ashton. “Every day is exciting and we are always busy,” said David. He and his wife Jennifer, a corporate attorney for Statoil, juggle the challenges of raising an active baby boy and busy careers—and they wouldn’t have it any other way.

David is an avid bicyclist and can be spotted pedaling his way around the Museum District, Buffalo Bayou Park and other spots in Houston. He and Jennifer enjoy skiing and appreciate having parents nearby to babysit until Ashton is old enough to balance skis.

Moving to Houston from New York when David was in high school was a cultural shift. His father transplanted the family for career opportunities and David remembers friends asking if he would be riding a horse to school. “Now, we know it was the best thing that could have happened. We love Houston and everything the city has to offer,” said David.

David joined BoyarMiller in 2013 and was elected shareholder last year. His career is punctuated with accolades from Super Lawyers Texas Rising Stars where he is listed for three consecutive years, and a “Top Lawyer” designation from Houstonia Magazine. But what David finds most rewarding is the work he does to help clients advance their business objectives through fair and tenacious legal counsel.
