At BoyarMiller, we believe when our community thrives, so does our business. We are committed to making a positive impact with the same energy that characterizes our practice of law.

As part of our Mission to provide counsel beyond expectations, build lasting relationships and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, our firm – and our individual attorneys – are active, proud participants in a number of Houston organizations. Giving back not only expands our passion for life, it also connects us to communities and organizations that share our commitment.

We have had the privilege to work with a number of great causes and organizations on an individual level and as a firm. Most recently, we work with:

The AdvoCare Texas Bowl

Chris Hanslik is a Past Chair and current Board Member of The Texas Bowl.  The firm has served as a sponsor and participant in the Texas Bowl’s annual Gridiron Legends Gold Tournament which benefits the DePelchin Children’s Center, one of the largest providers of mental health, foster care and adoption services in Texas.

The AdvoCare Texas Bowl is dedicated to serving the local community and to leaving a lasting legacy for a distinctively Texan charity. Although the center is based in Houston, they serve children and families in Austin, Brownwood, Lubbock, San Antonio and all across Texas.

Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC)

BoyarMiller is a long-time supporter of the Association of Corporate Counsel Houston, home to more than 1,200 in-house counsels in the greater Houston area. We are proud to be the Marquee Event Sponsor for the ACC’s Annual Ethics Seminar and Golf/Spa Event since 2017.

ACC chapters represent over 40,000 corporate counsel around the world and offer a unique opportunity for members to connect with in-house counsel in their local areas, sharpen their skills with CLE/CPD programs, and hone their leadership abilities.

Association of Corporate Growth (ACG)

BoyarMiller is a proud sponsor of the Association of Corporate Growth. We were pleased to support “Energy Uncorked” in January, a networking opportunity providing direct exposure to professionals across the energy finance sector who are involved in M&A, fundraising, corporate growth and strategic development.

ACG’s mission is to drive middle-market growth and 75% of members report that they have done business with fellow members. This has made ACG a trusted and respected resource for middle-market dealmakers and business leaders who invest in growth and build companies.

Center for Houston’s Future

Steve Kesten, BoyarMiller shareholder and chair of the firm’s business group, was selected for the Spring 2017 Class of the Center for Houston’s Future (CHF) Business/Civic Leadership Forum.

CHF is devoted to thinking and acting strategically for the long-term future of the greater Houston region. It engages diverse leaders, providing impactful research and defining actionable strategies.

Entrepreneur’s Organization Houston

BoyarMiller is an official Strategic Alliance Partner of EO Houston and we regularly sponsor EO Houston events including the Breakfast of Champions, which this year is being hosted at our offices.

EO Houston is the catalyst that enables leading entrepreneurs to learn and grow, leading to greater success in business and beyond. BoyarMiller is a long-term strategic partner in EO.

KIPP Texas Public Schools

Developing our people to be great professionals is one of the core values at BoyarMiller. And we know this foundation often starts early in life, which is the reason we support KIPP Texas Public Schools and KIPP Houston Public Schools.

This past summer, we hosted a student who was part of the KIPP Through College Future Focus program, which helps students identify careers of interest, build critical job skills, and network with potential employers. Bill Boyar serves as the Chairman of the Board at KIPP Texas.

KIPP’s mission to develop under-served students with the academic skills, intellectual habits and qualities of character necessary to succeed truly resonates with what we believe to be important.

SEARCH Homeless Services

SEARCH Homeless Services is a cause that is close to the hearts of many BoyarMiller attorneys. Chris Hanslik serves as the Chair and Bill Boyar most recently served as Board Chair.  Chris, with his wife Catherine, chaired the 2013 Annual Luncheon. Because SEARCH’s mission to engage, stabilize, educate, employ and house the homeless individuals and families of Houston is so important to us, we get involved as a firm in several ways.

SEARCH Homeless Services helps thousands of men, women and children each year move from the streets, into jobs and safe, stable housing. SEARCH meets clients where they are and gets them back on their feet through services that engage, stabilize, educate, employ and house.

Urban Land Institute

Hilary Tyson serves on the ULI Houston Development of Distinction Committee and serves as Chair for ULI Houston’s UrbanPlan Committee.

The mission of ULI, the Urban Land Institute, is to provide leadership in the responsible use of land and in building sustainable, thriving communities. ULI is composed of more than 38,000 members worldwide.
