John Berger – Chief Executive Officer, Sunnova
William J. (John) Berger is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sunnova Energy Corporation, a leading U.S. residential solar and storage service provider. With over 21 years of energy industry experience, Berger also co-founded and served as Chief Executive Officer at SunCap Financial, a residential solar system lease provider. Prior to SunCap, Berger co-founded Standard Renewable Energy (SRE), a top-10 provider of renewable energy and energy-efficient products and services for residential, commercial and government customers. Berger received his MBA from Harvard Business School and graduated cum laude from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering.
Paul Perea, Managing Director, Co-Head of M&A Investment Banking, Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co.
Paul Perea serves as Managing Director and Co-Head of M&A Investment Banking. Perea was previously a partner at Baker Botts L.L.P., where he spent over 15 years advising clients and their boards of directors on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, proxy contests and capital markets transactions in the energy space. Perea holds a BA in Government with high honors from The University of Texas at Austin and a JD from Vanderbilt University School of Law, where he served on the Law Review.
Sanjiv Shah – Managing Director, Simmons & Company International
Sanjiv Shah joined the energy services and equipment investment banking team at Simmons & Company International®, Energy Specialists of Piper Jaffray® in early 2008 and has worked on more than 50 successful M&A, strategic advisory and capital markets projects during that time.
Prior to joining the firm, he worked for Citigroup for four years in London and Zurich, in fixed income credit markets and the financial institutions group, respectively. In Zurich, Shah worked as a corporate banker covering the banking and insurance sectors and in London, he worked as a controller for the global loans and leveraged finance product groups. Shah has 13 years of investment banking experience.
Shah is originally from Manchester, England, and graduated with bachelor’s degree with honors in economics from the University of Manchester. Shah is an active member of the Petroleum Equipment & Services Association (“PESA”), among the largest trade associations for the energy services and equipment industry, serving on its emerging leaders committee from 2015 to 2017 and on the advisory board since 2017.
