Bill Boyar Elected Executive Board Chair of KIPP Houston Public Schools
HOUSTON (Aug. 5, 2015) – Bill Boyar, founding shareholder of BoyarMiller, has been elected chair of the executive board of directors of KIPP Houston Public Schools. Boyar serves a two-year term and has been a member of the board of directors since 2011.
KIPP (the Knowledge Is Power Program) is a national leader in the movement to provide all children with access to an excellent education and the skills necessary for future success.
“I am honored to chair this outstanding board and provide guidance to KIPP Houston, the largest region of the organization,” said Boyar. “While only eight percent of students from low-income communities in the U.S. graduate from college, our KIPPsters—as we affectionately call them—boast a 51 percent college graduation rate. With 24 schools in the Houston area, we serve more than 13,000 students.”
Sehba Ali, CEO and Superintendent of KIPP Houston Public Schools, cited support from community leaders as vital to achieving KIPP Houston’s strategic plan.
