BoyarMiller Chairman Chris Hanslik Receives Distinguished Alumnus Award from South Texas College of Law Houston

HOUSTON (10.9.2020) – BoyarMiller Chairman Chris Hanslik is the 2020 recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award from South Texas College of Law Houston, the highest award presented by the Alumni Association.
The honor recognizes his extraordinary achievements in the legal profession and his contributions to the community. Additionally, the award demonstrates significant leadership to South Texas College of Law Houston. He will receive the award at the Alumni Association’s annual meeting that will take place in January.
Hanslik has more than two decades of experience as a commercial litigator. At STCL he competed successfully in moot court competitions and won the American Bar Association’s National Appellate Advocacy Competition for the law school and was named the nation’s top advocate. He currently serves on the STCL Board of Directors and previously served on the board of the Alumni Association for four years.
“I am truly humbled to receive such a distinguished award,” said Hanslik, class of 1995. “My experience at STCL materially impacted my career as an advocate for clients, and developed my determination to help those less fortunate through my involvement in nonprofit organizations.”
For 10 years, Hanslik has served in various leadership positions for SEARCH Homeless Services and has been its chairman since 2018. He also has served on the Board of Directors of The Texas Bowl since 2012 and has held the post of chairman. The bowl game generates an average of $50 million annually for the Houston economy and supports DePelchin Children’s Center through annual financial contribution as well as volunteer days. In 2019, Hanslik was named to the Bryan ISD Education Foundation Hall of Honor. He has been recognized with legal awards such as being listed in Chambers & Partners US for Commercial Litigation every year since 2015. He has been listed in numerous peer recognition rankings such as in US News & World Report Best Lawyers since 2016, and on the Texas Super Lawyers list since 2005.
