Meet American Alloy Steel, Inc.

American Alloy Steel, Inc. is one of BoyarMiller’s longest standing clients and has been a part of our family since the day we started in 1990.  American Alloy owns and operates service centers that stock Pressure Vessel Quality (PVQ) carbon and alloy steel plate that is ultimately used for everything from ships, to bridges to pressure vessels.  American Alloy has 6 stocking locations across the United States and Canada, with its largest facility being on over 20 acres located off Highway 290 in Houston.  Recently, American Alloy acquired a rolled and welded steel operation, boasting a plate roll weighing over a million pounds, which now operates at its Houston headquarters.  Accommodating a worldwide market demand, they have expanded physical coverage into the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America.

American Alloy was founded by Art Moore as a family business in 1971 with less than a dozen employees and has grown to over 200 employees today.  With Art Moore still at the helm, American Alloy remains a family business with Art’s children and grandchildren in leadership positions.  At the same time, American Alloy has built an amazingly loyal employee base, and even those not related by blood, are part of the American Alloy Family.  After almost fifty years of operation, American Alloy has become a leading service center that supports a divergent group of industries including refining/energy, power/utility, mining/aggregate, offshore/drilling, shipbuilding/vessel repair, and many other related industries.

Gary Miller was in his mid-30’s when he first began representing American Alloy, and both Gary and BoyarMiller have been proud to grow up and mature alongside American Alloy.  The projects BoyarMiller has taken on for American Alloy over the years have included corporate, employment, contracts, real estate, merger and acquisition, and commercial litigation. But the work that has made us the most proud has involved sitting down with Art Moore and his executive team on a regular basis to discuss the legal implications of the business and how it impacts company strategy—often over their traditional Friday lunch of fried chicken and all the fixings at the company offices.
