Chris Barteau

Chris Barteau is Of Counsel in the firm’s Real Estate Group. His practice is focused on commercial real estate transactions with an emphasis on commercial multi-family and mixed-use projects. He has experience as the lead attorney on numerous land and development deals and construction loan financings.

He previously served as assistant general counsel for a private real estate company specializing in high-quality multi-family and mixed-use properties nationwide. He was also the assistant general counsel and lead real estate attorney for a large automotive repair corporation where he managed more than 70 real estate transactions and worked closely with company executives and lenders to negotiate revolving credit and construction loans. He also was responsible for drafting and negotiating construction agreements with the company’s general contractors.

Chris earned his J.D., cum laude, from South Texas College of Law where he received the Transactional Law Practice Certificate. He worked full-time during law school as a petroleum landman and took classes at night. He was a member of the South Texas Law Review.
